Startorus Fusion raises $130 million Series A++ funding round
Shanghai-based controlled fusion company Startorus Fusion (星环聚能) has completed a Series A++ round financing of 880 million yuan ($130 million).
The round was backed by Shenzhen Investment Holdings, Shenzhen Credit Guarantee Venture Capital, Agricultural Bank of China Capital, BOCOM Investment, GGV Capital and other investors, with existing shareholder Shanghai STVC Group’s Intellectual Property Fund continuing its follow-on investment.
Since January, the company has raised nearly 2.4 billion yuan, ranking among China’s best-funded private fusion ventures.
Startorus Fusion focuses on its proprietary spherical tokamak technology based on repeated reconnection.
The new funding will support construction of its Shanghai Jiading research base, development of the NTST device, design and construction of CTRFR-1, its next-generation fusion-grade device, as well as engineering advances in high-temperature superconducting magnets and AI-based plasma control.
Its full-scale high-temperature superconducting toroidal field magnet has completed 20K cryogenic excitation testing, becoming one of the first full-scale HTS magnets designed for spherical tokamak fusion systems.
Satellite communication chip startup JPXH closes angel+ funding
Shanghai-based satellite communication phased-array chip developer JPXH (鲸鹏芯海) has completed an angel+ round of financing worth tens of millions of yuan, backed by Zhongying Capital, Calterah, Furong Capital, and Creation Venture Partners.
Founded in 2024, JPXH focuses on phased-array chips for satellite communications, covering Ku, Ka, Q, V, E and W frequency bands.
The company uses advanced CMOS technology for cost-effective solutions and combines CMOS and GaN technologies for high-power applications.
The funding will be used to accelerate chip development and commercialization, with the company targeting domestic breakthroughs in satellite communication chip technologies.
Welink Intelligence nets nearly $1.5 million from angel round
Ningbo-based vision AI startup Welink Intelligence (微链智能) has secured nearly 10 million yuan ($1.48 million) in angel financing from investors including DJI co-founder Li Zexiang (李泽湘) and Lu Qi (陆奇), former head of Y Combinator’s China unit and now founder of startup incubator MiraclePlus.
Founded by Zhejiang University PhD Ning Dongdong (宁冬冬), the company develops AI vision models for enterprise applications. Its flagship product is an AI “technical customer service” agent designed for consumer electronics after-sales support.
Unlike traditional chatbot systems, the product can understand images and videos, proactively diagnose problems and guide users through troubleshooting like a human technical expert, according to the startup.
With access to an ecosystem of more than 270 consumer electronics brands, the company will use the funding to expand R&D.
