Biopharma startup Synphatec raises over $50 million in Series A
Shanghai-based biopharma company Synphatec (斯莱普泰) has raised more than $50 million in a Series A round led by Decheng Capital, with Huatai-GenScript Fund and China Merchants Venture participating.
Existing investors Morningside Venture Capital, Shunwei Capital and Qianju Capital also increased their investments.
Founded in 2024, Synphatec focuses on major unmet clinical needs and develops drug candidates through its i-NaS and SynX technology platforms.
Its lead programs, SP-101 and SP-201, target serious diseases for which no effective therapies are currently available globally, with both candidates having the potential to become first-in-class drugs.
The new funding will support clinical development of the company’s core programs, continued optimization of its two technology platforms and the development of additional pipelines.
Spacecraft builder Baiyue Jilian completes angel+ round
Shaoxing, Zhejiang-based spacecraft company Baiyue Jilian (白月际联) has raised several hundred million yuan in an angel+ round jointly led by QF Capital, China Capital and Shunwei Capital, with Huzhou Xunshang Venture Capital, Boyan VC and Jade Capital participating.
The company is developing the Saiyata series of reusable two-stage-to-orbit spacecraft, positioning the vehicles as a multi-user transportation platform for government, commercial and research customers.
Its technology roadmap calls for fully reusable first and second stages, with the aim of significantly reducing the cost of placing payloads into orbit.
The new funding will support technology development and prototype manufacturing for the SIAT (赛亚塔) series and accelerate the commercialization of scheduled Earth-space transportation.
Potential applications include rapid satellite launches and constellation replenishment, in-orbit research and manufacturing, and space cargo and resupply.
Photonics chipmaker JWGZ closes angel round
Kunshan, Jiangsu-based JWGZ (九维光子) has raised tens of millions of yuan in an angel round led by Furong Capital, with Leaguer Capital and SR Capital participating.
Founded in 2024, the company develops and manufactures next-generation photonic chips based on phase-change materials, as well as advanced nanolithography equipment.
It has completed pilot-line fabrication of a phase-change optical circuit switching (OCS) chip for optical interconnects.
Phase-change materials enable nonvolatile reconfiguration of optical paths, making them a key technology for low-power, highly integrated optical switching chips.
The new funding will be used to validate mass production of the company’s chips and advance the engineering development of its advanced lithography equipment.
