- Zhejiang automaker expands overseas services as 2026 World Cup approaches
- Move comes amid rapid sales growth in Mexico, one of Geely’s fastest-growing markets
Geely is offering free airport transfers in Mexico for its vehicle owners attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a shift by the Chinese automaker from selling cars abroad to building localized customer services in overseas markets.
The program was announced on May 28 alongside a broader partnership between Geely’s Galaxy brand and China’s state broadcaster CCTV ahead of the tournament in June, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
With hundreds of thousands of football fans expected to travel to Mexico during the World Cup, transportation and language barriers remain common challenges for overseas visitors.
Dedicated vehicles
Geely Auto Group Chief Executive Gan Jiayue said the company’s Mexican subsidiary will deploy dedicated vehicles and establish pickup points at major airports, including Mexico City, throughout the tournament period.
Geely owners who make reservations through official channels will be eligible for complimentary transfers from the airport to designated destinations.
The company described the initiative as the first time a Chinese automaker has offered localized airport transfer services to customers attending a World Cup overseas.

Increasing localization
The program also reflects Geely’s efforts to deepen its presence in Mexico, where it established a local subsidiary in 2023. The company sold 22,258 vehicles in the country in 2025, up 237.4% from a year earlier, Mexico Business News reported.
Additionally, Geely is among the bidders for Nissan Motor Co.’s factory in Mexico.
Sales momentum has continued into 2026. First-quarter deliveries reached 10,782 vehicles, a 283.8% increase from a year earlier, helping Geely break into Mexico’s top 10 automakers by monthly sales for the first time.
As part of the partnership announced on May 28, Geely Galaxy has also become the exclusive title sponsor of “Grand Feast of Football,” a flagship sports program on CCTV-5, and a broadcast partner of CCTV’s coverage of the 2026 World Cup.
