Shining 3D launches portable scanners to enter consumer market

  • Industrial 3D scanning leader launches consumer brand and three new models, moving beyond traditional B2B markets
  • Company leverages decades of precision expertise to bring professional-level scanning to hobbyists, schools and studios

Shining 3D (先临三维), a leading domestic 3D scanning company, has launched a new consumer-focused brand, Einstar, marking its first formal entry into the consumer 3D scanning market.

The Hangzhou-based company debuted three models on June 10, translating industrial-grade expertise into accessible, lower-cost products for everyday users.

Shining 3D has spent more than 20 years serving professional markets including industrial metrology, aerospace, automotive manufacturing and dental applications.

“We’re bringing industrial-level precision to consumer users with simpler software and a more approachable price point,” the company said.

The Einstar lineup

The new Einstar (先临智星) lineup covers a range of use cases. Einstar 2 emphasizes wireless portability and zero learning curve, aimed at scanning miniatures, 3D printing models and portraits.

Einstar Rockit combines high performance with lightweight design for industrial design and creative development.

Einstar Vega is a fully wireless, all-in-one device built for mobile applications such as outdoor archaeology or workshop scanning.

3D scanners convert physical objects into digital models, complementing 3D printers that turn digital designs into tangible items.

Rising demand

With 3D printing increasingly entering homes, schools, and studios, demand for consumer 3D scanners is expected to rise.

China’s consumer 3D printing market has grown rapidly in recent years. National statistics show domestic 3D printer output jumped 50.9% year-on-year in the first four months of 2026, while customs data indicate exports surged over 100% to 2.46 million units.

Analysts estimate the consumer 3D scanner market could reach 300,000 units in 2026 alone, based on an industry average of one scanner per 27 printers.

Research firm China Insights Consultancy projects the consumer 3D scanner market will grow from $106 million in 2025 to $234 million by 2029, at a compound annual growth rate of 17.1%.

Shining 3D reported 2025 revenue of 1.575 billion yuan ($232 million), up 31%, and net profit of 425 million yuan, roughly doubling from the previous year.

The Beijing Stock Exchange, the country’s third bourse after the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges, formally accepted the IPO application on December 31, 2025, with China International Capital Corporation as sponsor.

The filing is under review, and a listing hearing notice would signal the process entering its final stage.
