The newly created major is part of a wave of new AI-related disciplines introduced under China’s 2026 undergraduate program catalog released by the Ministry of Education in early May.
Galileo’s “Tiejia Tianbao,” or Iron Leopard, team outperformed rivals with its self-developed quadruped robots, excelling in mobility, motion control and all-terrain obstacle crossing.
The map divides the ecosystem into five layers: robot bodies, “brains” (software and control systems), core supply chain, application scenarios and listed firms.
Founder Yang Yuzhi said the company aims to evolve its offerings “from rehabilitation tools into intelligent mobility assistants,” helping older users maintain independence and improve quality of life.
Beyond exhibitions, the project anchors a broader experiment — the creation of what organizers describe as China’s first “human-robot co-governed” community.
