Ant Group’s health app Ant Afu has reached 150 million users, with nearly 20 million health consultations a day, making it the world’s largest professional health AI app by user count, the company said September 10.
Zhang Junjie (张俊杰), vice president of Ant Group and president of its health business, announced the figures at a health-industry forum during the 2026 Inclusion Conference on the Bund in Shanghai.
Launched in June 2025, Afu surpassed 100 million users within six months. The company is now expanding its health services beyond weight management to five key areas: exercise, diet, sleep, mental health and medical care.

A new addition
A new “Health” section has been added to Afu’s homepage, alongside its AI chat and medical-service entrances.
Users can connect smartwatches or log dietary information to track more than 10 health indicators, including weight and sleep, and receive personalized advice.
Afu can also use information from previous interactions to proactively flag issues such as low protein intake.
Weight loss campaign
In June, Afu launched a campaign encouraging users to lose 50 million kilograms collectively. More than 2.75 million people have joined, with total reported weight loss exceeding 2.5 million kilograms.

More than 80,000 participants have moved from overweight or obese BMI ranges into the normal range, Ant said.
Afu also connects AI-powered health management with online medical services, covering 5,000 hospitals and 300,000 human doctors, according to the company.
Why it matters globally
For overseas readers, Afu’s rapid growth points to a distinctly Chinese approach to health AI.
While US tech giants have largely focused on using AI as a tool for doctors in clinical settings, Afu targets consumers directly and combines everyday health management with access to hospitals and human doctors.
Some 55% of Afu’s users are in third- and fourth-tier cities and other lower-tier markets.
That suggests AI-powered health services are reaching areas with relatively limited access to medical resources — a model that could offer lessons for other markets.
