Geely exports top 100,000 vehicles in June for first time

  • June sales rose 2% as exports and EV demand offset a slower domestic market
  • Overseas shipments more than doubled, surpassing last year’s full-year total in the first half

Geely Automobile Holdings sold 240,799 vehicles in June, up about 2% from a year earlier, as overseas deliveries topped 100,000 units for the first time and helped sustain growth despite intensifying competition in China’s auto market.

The automaker’s exports surged 157% to a record 102,874 vehicles during the month, while first-half overseas shipments reached 474,228 units, already exceeding the company’s total exports for all of 2025.

Sales have now risen on both a monthly and annual basis for four consecutive months.

EVs drive growth

The group’s electric vehicle portfolio remained the main growth driver. Combined sales of battery electric and plug-in hybrid models climbed 32% to 161,449 units in June, accounting for 67% of total deliveries.

Battery electric vehicle sales rose 22% to 103,522 units, while plug-in hybrids jumped 55% to 57,927.

Zeekr was the fastest-growing brand within the group, with deliveries soaring 111% to 35,169 vehicles.

The core Geely marque sold 186,564 vehicles, including 108,206 units from its Galaxy lineup, up 20% year on year, while Lynk & Co delivered 19,066 vehicles.

Geely sold a record 1.42 million vehicles in the first six months of the year. Overseas shipments of new-energy vehicles reached 277,189 units, up 585% from a year earlier and accounting for 61% of total exports.

Analysts said exports have become an increasingly important contributor to both sales growth and profitability, with stronger overseas margins helping offset rising raw material costs.

Second-half targets loom

The company plans to accelerate its global expansion in the second half, with the Zeekr 9X scheduled to debut in the Middle East in the third quarter, followed by the Zeekr 009 Grand in Hong Kong later this year.

New models including the Geely Galaxy Battleship 700 and Geely Galaxy TT are also expected to launch.

Elsewhere in China’s EV market, most automakers posted year-on-year sales gains in June, but only Zeekr has surpassed the halfway mark toward its annual sales target.

Geely Automobile said at its 2026 annual results briefing that it expects the Zeekr brand to sell 300,000 vehicles this year.

Rival Leapmotor remained the top-performing EV startup, delivering 356,487 vehicles globally in the first half.

However, with a full-year target of 1 million units, it has achieved about 35.6% of that goal and would need to average more than 107,000 monthly deliveries in the second half to meet it.
