PrimeBot (启元机器人) has opened pre-orders for two compact robots as the Chinese humanoid robotics startup takes its first step into the consumer market, betting that smaller, more versatile machines can find a place in homes before full-size humanoids become mainstream.
The company began accepting orders for its Q1 and T1 models on August 23 through its official mini-program and stores on Tmall, Douyin and bilibili, as well as offline events.
Deliveries are expected to begin in September 2026. Early buyers can pay a 1,000-yuan deposit for 2,000 yuan off the final payment, along with other launch perks.
The Q1 stands about 88 centimeters tall and weighs roughly 15 kilograms. It is designed as a compact humanoid with full-body force control, targeting home companionship and tech-toy applications.
The 1-meter-tall, 16-kilogram T1 takes a more unusual approach. PrimeBot calls it the world’s first personal robot capable of changing between a wheeled-legged humanoid configuration and a quadruped form. It is designed for indoor household use as well as outdoor companionship.
A Tranformable architecture
The company’s key technical bet is a Transformer-based architecture that allows the same hardware to operate across the two configurations. PrimeBot says the transition can now be completed in less than 0.3 seconds.
PrimeBot was incubated by AgiBot (智元机器人), whose co-founder and CTO Peng Zhihui (彭志辉), better known by his online alias as “Zhihui Jun” (稚晖君), serves as chairman.
Its parent company, Shanghai-listed Swancor Advanced Materials (上纬新材), said in its 2026 interim report that its consumer robotics business had recorded 210 million yuan in advance payments and invested about 160 million yuan in R&D.



PrimeBot has also established physical experience stores in seven major cities, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Wuhan.
The company is positioning the two robots as more than household appliances. Q1 can serve as a programmable AI education platform, while T1’s transforming body is intended to broaden the range of home and outdoor applications.
PrimeBot showcased its approach at the United Nations’ AI for Good summit in July, promoting the idea of “teaching robots to learn AI” and exploring partnerships with educational institutions in North America and Europe.
Why it matters globally
For the global robotics industry, PrimeBot’s consumer push offers a different commercialization route at a time when many humanoid developers remain focused on factories and industrial deployments.
Rather than waiting for humanoids to become capable enough for complex household chores, the company is starting with smaller machines built around education, entertainment and companionship.
Peng has argued that the ultimate goal of robotics is to become as integrated into daily life as smartphones, extending people’s ability to perceive and create.
The strategy is also backed by early signs of consumer demand. PrimeBot’s seven offline experience stores and 210 million yuan in advance payments suggest that China’s emerging humanoid sector is beginning to test whether consumers will pay for embodied AI before the technology reaches its full potential.
