- Entry-level humanoid targets consumers and education users
- Move comes as IPO-bound company accelerates commercialization push
Unitree (宇树科技), a leading developer of humanoid and quadrupedal robotics, said on June 24 it has cut the price of its Unitree R1 humanoid robot to as low as 29,900 yuan ($4,390), down from 39,900 yuan, and will begin immediate spot sales with no preorder queue.
The R1 is positioned as an entry-level consumer humanoid robot. It stands 123 centimeters tall, weighs about 25-29 kilograms, and is equipped with 26 high-precision joints.
The system integrates multimodal AI models for voice and vision. A head-mounted module provides 10 TOPS of computing power, enabling basic environmental perception and voice interaction.
The robot supports a maximum single-arm payload of 2 kilograms and an end-effector precision of ±0.1 millimeters, while remaining compatible with mainstream robotics simulation platforms.
Supply-constrained
Unitree said around 90% of core components are domestically developed in-house, including motors, reducers and controllers, helping reduce overall costs.
The pricing move sharply undercuts existing humanoid robots, which are typically sold at several hundred thousand yuan and often remain supply-constrained, lowering the entry barrier for consumer and education markets.

Fastest approval
The announcement comes as Unitree advances toward a public listing. Earlier this month, the company cleared a key regulatory review for its IPO in just 73 days, a record for deep-tech listings in 2026 so far.
The Hangzhou-based firm submitted its registration application the day after approval, and could potentially debut on China’s STAR Market as early as mid-July, pending final clearance.
