  • The humanoid robot maker’s shares rose 6.11% on September 17, capping a monthlong slide
  • Fresh industry data showing rapid growth in robot shipments helped revive investor enthusiasm for the sector

Unitree’s shares surged 6.11% on September 17, pushing the humanoid robot maker’s market value back above 200 billion yuan ($29.87 billion) as investors responded to fresh data showing rapid growth in the global humanoid robot market.

The stock climbed as much as 7% intraday before closing at 503.26 yuan, giving Unitree a market capitalization of 203.55 billion yuan.

The rebound reversed a monthlong slide that had taken the stock below the 500-yuan mark for the first time on September 10.

Its market value briefly fell below 200 billion yuan a day later, while the shares hit a post-listing low of 458.02 yuan on September 16.

A post-IPO high, then a losing streak

Unitree went public on Shanghai’s STAR Market on August 19 at an IPO price of 150.80 yuan.

The shares opened at 1,100 yuan on their first trading day, a 629.44% jump, briefly giving the company a market value of about 445.5 billion yuan.

As of the midday break on September 18, the shares were trading at 499.22 yuan, down 0.8%, leaving Unitree with a market value of about 201.9 billion yuan.

China dominates humanoid robot shipments

The latest rebound came as new industry data reinforced expectations for strong growth in humanoid robotics.

Counterpoint said global humanoid robot shipments exceeded 22,000 units in the first half of 2026, up nearly 300% from a year earlier.

The five largest vendors were all Chinese companies, together accounting for 86% of global shipments.

AgiBot and Unitree leading the pack

AgiBot ranked first with about 9,700 units, or 43% of the global total, while Unitree came in second with more than 7,000, giving it a 31% global share, according to Counterpoint.

Galbot (银河通用), Ubtech (优必选) and Leju Robotics (乐聚机器人) rounded out the top five.

Separate industry data cited by Chinese authorities put China’s share of global humanoid robot shipments at about 97% in the first half of the year.

Media outlet TechNode put the global total at about 19,100 units, with Chinese manufacturers accounting for 97%.

The difference likely reflects varying definitions of humanoid robots and shipment categories tracked by different research firms.

A greater challenge ahead

Taken together, the figures highlighted China’s overwhelming presence in the fast-growing humanoid robot market and helped revive investor interest in companies such as Unitree.

The rally also comes as the sector faces a more important test: whether rapidly rising shipments can translate into widespread commercial deployment and sustainable returns.

Counterpoint expects global humanoid robot shipments to surpass 50,000 units for the full year as pilot projects move toward broader commercial use.
