Qwen app adds health records feature to track users’ health data

  • The new feature can combine data from smartwatches and glucose monitors with users’ medical histories
  • Qwen can also summarize recent health changes before doctor visits and flag trends in sleep, exercise and heart rate

Alibaba’s Qwen app has launched a new health records feature that allows users to bring together data from wearable devices and other health sources, giving the AI a longer-term view of changes in their physical condition.

The “Health Records” feature went live on October 8. With user authorization, it can connect to devices such as smartwatches and continuous glucose monitors, while also allowing users to record information including medical and allergy histories.

Qwen can then combine scattered data on sleep, exercise and heart rate with recent and historical trends to generate personalized health analyses and summaries.

Preparing for a doctor visit

One intended use is to help users prepare for medical consultations.

Before seeing a doctor, users can ask Qwen to review their health records and summarize recent changes in their condition, as well as identify issues that may be worth discussing with a doctor.

The aim is to help users describe changes in their health more clearly and make consultations more efficient, rather than relying on memory or isolated readings from individual devices.

The feature can draw on both recent measurements and accumulated historical data, allowing users to see changes over time rather than treating each reading separately.

AI-generated health summaries

Qwen has also introduced a feature that proactively pushes health summaries based on continuously collected data.

The app can remind users to pay attention to changes in sleep and exercise patterns and other health indicators, helping them keep track of their overall condition.

The launch expands Qwen’s use of personal data beyond general-purpose AI assistance and into a more persistent health-management role.

The feature is designed around user authorization, with health information collected from connected devices and manually entered records forming the basis for Qwen’s analysis and summaries.
