- The possible launch of JVS Book and JVS Box underscores Alibaba’s deeper push into agentic AI.
- Alibaba bets on proprietary devices amid growing competition in the space.
Alibaba is set to launch two new hardware products, the JVS Book and JVS Box, expanding its footprint in the burgeoning AI agent market, Lanjinger, a business and financial news outlet, reported today.
Citing people close to the matter, the report said both of Alibaba’s devices are designed to integrate seamlessly with its JVS Claw platform, marking a shift towards a more hardware-focused approach to AI-driven workstations and mobile office solutions.
The JVS Claw is Alibaba’s proprietary AI framework modeled after the viral OpenClaw framework. Launched on March 13, it is designed to power hardware devices with advanced capabilities in machine learning and automation, enhancing user productivity.
The JVS Book is geared towards mobile work environments, built on a customized OpenClaw architecture and tailored for on-the-go computing.
Meanwhile, the JVS Box targets desktop users, designed as a compact AI Agent workstation for office environments, also leveraging the OpenClaw-inspired architecture.
Emailed queries to Alibaba seeking comment went unanswered.
The move could represent Alibaba’s bid to carve out a niche in the growing AI ecosystem, particularly in the AI agent space, which has gained traction within the tech industry.
This launch comes at a time when AI agents, such as the popular OpenClaw agent, are generating considerable buzz in China.

Using AI frameworks to deploy and manage tasks, the sector has quickly become a key focus. WeChat recently launched the ClawBot plugin to integrate with OpenClaw, while ByteDance and Baidu have also rolled out their own products and services in a bid to capture market share in this new era of AI.
While Alibaba’s move is being closely watched, some industry experts remain skeptical about the need for exclusive hardware for AI agents.
“If existing devices like laptops and smartphones can handle 80% of the functions with software, where’s the value in a dedicated hardware product?” an industry insider was quoted as saying in the Lanjinger report, speaking on condition of anonymity because Alibaba has not announced the debut.
As competitors flood the market with comparable software solutions, Alibaba’s move could hint at its intention to distinguish itself by offering a holistic ecosystem covering both software platforms and dedicated hardware devices.
