Leapmotor hits 1.5 million deliveries as expansion kicks into higher gear

  • Chinese EV maker reaches milestone eight months after crossing the one-million mark
  • Overseas expansion, production footprint and export momentum continue to scale across key markets

Leapmotor said global deliveries have surpassed 1.5 million units, marking a new milestone for the Chinese EV maker as it continues to expand abroad and accelerate production.

Speaking at the 2026 International Automotive and Supply Chain Expo (Hong Kong), held on June 18-22, senior vice president Tiger Cao Li (曹力) said the company had reached the figure, underscoring what it described as a new phase of growth for the brand.

The company took just eight months to move from 1 million to 1.5 million cumulative deliveries.

It delivered its first vehicle in June 2019, with the first 500,000 units taking 64 months. The second 500,000 units took 12 months, while the most recent 500,000 units were delivered in eight months.

Leapmotor delivered more than 80,000 vehicles in May alone, bringing total deliveries for January to May to over 260,000 units, ranking first among China’s new energy vehicle startups.

Overseas performance

Overseas shipments exceeded 20,000 units in May, with more than 75,000 units exported in the first five months, already surpassing full-year 2025 levels.

The company now operates in more than 40 countries and regions, with over 2,000 sales and service outlets globally, including more than 950 overseas.

Leapmotor International achieved full-year profitability in its second year of operation. In Italy, one of Europe’s key automotive markets, the company said its pure electric models have captured more than 30% market share.

On the manufacturing side, overseas production sites in Spain, Malaysia and Myanmar are gradually coming online, forming a dual hub structure across Europe and Southeast Asia.

On the same day, Leapmotor launched the right-hand-drive version of its Lafa 5 model in Hong Kong and global markets, priced from HK$249,900 ($31,887), marking a further step in its push into right-hand-drive regions.
