- April shipments jump nearly 74% year-on-year to new high
- New models drive orders as assisted driving moves into fast lane
Leapmotor (零跑汽车) posted record monthly deliveries in April, as aggressive pricing and expanded smart-driving features helped the Chinese electric-vehicle (EV) maker gain momentum in a crowded market.
The company delivered 71,387 vehicles during the month, up 73.9% from a year earlier, marking its highest monthly total on record.
Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Zhu Jiangming said in a recent video interview that the A10 compact model received more than 40,000 orders in its first month, the fastest order growth in the company’s history.
Launched on March 26, the A10 brings lidar and point-to-point navigation-assisted driving to vehicles priced below 100,000 yuan ($14,645). Orders surpassed 10,000 within 48 hours and 40,000 within 28 days.
Production ramped up in April, with daily output exceeding 1,000 units. Monthly deliveries of the model are expected to reach 26,000 in May and approach 30,000 in June.
Leapmotor also rolled out the large-sized SUV D19 on April 16, starting at 219,800 yuan. The model features dual Qualcomm 8797 chips and an assisted driving system based on the vision-language-action (VLA) AI architecture, with orders exceeding 15,000 within 15 days.
At the Beijing Auto Show on April 24, the company launched the sports car Lafa5 Ultra, priced between 118,800 yuan and 124,800 yuan for a limited period. The debut extended Leapmotor’s lineup from entry-level models to flagship offerings.
Leapmotor has begun scaling its assisted driving systems across its portfolio, with urban navigation features already available in multiple models and set for broader rollout in May, covering vehicles from the A10 to the D19.
