MagicLab (魔法原子), a Chinese embodied intelligence startup, has started construction of its headquarters factory in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, as China’s robotics industry enters a new phase focused on mass production and real-world deployment.
The facility, located in the core area of Liangxi Science and Technology City, broke ground on August 1 and will house research, manufacturing and application development for humanoid robots and core components.
According to the company’s plan, the Wuxi plant will include four joint-module production lines and two complete robot assembly lines.
Once fully operational, it is expected to reach annual production capacity of 10,000 robots, including 9,000 small quadruped robots and 1,000 large quadruped robots.
Founded in January 2024 and headquartered in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, MagicLab positions itself as a “scenario-driven Physical AI native platform.” The company said more than 90% of its core hardware is developed in-house.
Its product portfolio includes the full-size humanoid robot MagicBot X1, industrial wheeled humanoid MagicBot D1 and lightweight industrial quadruped MagicDog T1.

Its proprietary Magic-VLA K02 model has achieved a task success rate above 90% in long-horizon tasks such as stacked box sealing, according to the company.
Commercially, MagicLab has secured partnerships with major companies in industries including oil and gas, telecommunications, power and retail.
The company claimed its accumulated order value has exceeded 100 million yuan ($14.8 million), including a 150 million yuan healthcare-sector purchase order that it described as the largest single order in that segment.
The company has also expanded overseas, with products reaching nearly 30 countries. Overseas revenue accounts for more than 30% of total sales, making MagicLab one of the first embodied AI companies in Jiangsu selected for government-supported global expansion initiatives.
A ‘production race’
The factory launch comes as China’s embodied AI sector moves beyond early-stage technology validation.
In the first half of 2026, about 46 billion yuan of venture funding flowed into the sector, with more than 20 robotics companies preparing for potential listings.
But investor priorities have begun shifting as financial investors turn their attention to other emerging fields, including quantum computing and commercial space.
Industrial investors and local governments are increasingly focusing on more practical indicators. These include whether companies have actual factories, whether robots can perform reliably in industrial environments, and whether they have confirmed orders and commercial revenue.
As a result, demonstrations and hardware specifications are losing some of their valuation power, while deployment scenarios, production capability, customer validation and cash generation are becoming the new benchmarks.
MagicLab’s Wuxi facility represents a bet that manufacturing scale will become a key differentiator in the next stage of the robotics race.

For the embodied AI industry, MagicLab’s factory is more than a production facility; it represents a signal that the race is moving from building smarter robots to building enough robots to matter.
