- Visual AI firm expands government and enterprise business footprint
- Hangzhou’s fast approvals and talent pool draw another major player
Chinese computer-vision giant Deep Glint has chosen Hangzhou as the base for its East China government and enterprise headquarters, signaling growing momentum for the city’s ambitions to become a leading AI hub.
The Beijing-based firm confirmed yesterday it has established its regional headquarters in Hangzhou’s Shangcheng District, operating through a newly registered subsidiary that will oversee expansion across eastern China.
The move adds Deep Glint to a growing list of prominent AI companies setting up operations in the district, including large language model (LLM) developer Zhipu.AI, ByteDance’s Volcano Engine and robotaxi operator Pony.ai.
Deep Glint’s choice has reinforced Hangzhou’s appeal as a center for digital-economy development.
Founded in 2013 by Brown University-educated Zhao Yong, Deep Glint is one of China’s earliest computer-vision specialists and the country’s first publicly listed company focused on visual AI.
The new Hangzhou headquarters will focus on serving government and enterprise clients while scaling deployment of vision-AI applications across industries from finance to transportation.
In explaining the reason for picking Hangzhou, Chief Executive Wu Yizhou said the city’s mature digital ecosystem and strong adoption of emerging technologies made it a natural choice.
The company cited proximity to government institutions and enterprise clients in the Qianjiang New City area, along with efficient local administrative support, as key factors behind the decision.

Decision in one month
According to Wu, the company evaluated several cities in eastern China before finally selecting Hangzhou, completing the entire process from initial policy consultation to company registration in roughly one month.
Local authorities provided policy briefings within a day and finalized registration procedures within a week, he said, impressed by the so-called “Hangzhou speed.”
Hangzhou has gained a reputation over the years for its pro-business policies, business-friendly environment, talent pool and minimal administrative interference in the market.
Deep Glint has spent nearly a decade developing AI solutions for financial services and has built a portfolio of more than 60 algorithms supporting diverse use cases.
The Hangzhou headquarters will leverage local industry resources to accelerate adoption of visual AI technologies in finance, government services and other enterprise scenarios, aiming to deepen integration between AI capabilities and real-world applications.
