Shaoxing opens Zhejiang’s first ‘6S’ center for low-altitude aviation

  • The 36,000-square-meter hub brings DJI, JOUAV and more than 10 low-altitude companies under one roof
  • The center combines sales, servicing, testing and training as Shaoxing pushes the sector toward commercial scale

Shaoxing has opened what it calls Zhejiang Province’s first “6S” delivery and experience center for low-altitude aviation, bringing more than 10 companies into a single hub.

This move comes as the city seeks to turn its low-altitude economy from pilot projects into a broader commercial ecosystem.

The center in Yuecheng District officially opened on October 6 after three months of trial operations. More than 200 representatives from low-altitude companies, universities, training institutions and the public attended the launch.

The “6S” is not an acronym or industry standard, but a low-altitude service model adapted from the traditional 4S dealership concept, covering display, sales, maintenance, operations, testing and R&D.

The 36,000-square-meter center combines six functions: product display, sales, maintenance, operations, testing and research and development. It also hosts flight demonstrations, professional training and educational programs.

Unlike a conventional retail outlet focused mainly on sales, the center is designed to connect different parts of the industry while giving consumers a place to experience and use low-altitude technologies.

From aircraft sales to an ecosystem

Shaoxing has more than 200 companies involved in the low-altitude sector, generating annual output of 18.74 billion yuan, according to local authorities.

The city has built an industrial chain covering materials and components through to complete aircraft.

Yuecheng is emerging as a major base for the sector. The district has attracted 27 low-altitude industry projects with planned total investment of 33 billion yuan ($4.9 billion), including projects from major companies such as DJI, JOUAV (纵横股份) and AVIC General Aviation (中航特飞).

The district is also using real-world applications to test the technology.

It has launched Zhejiang’s first regular urban low-altitude logistics route, with more than 4,000 flights completed and delivery times reduced by 70%, according to local authorities.

The Yangtze River Delta’s first regular low-altitude bus route has also expanded into a five-location network linking Shanghai’s Pudong district, Jiaxing and Shaoxing.

The projects are part of Shaoxing’s broader effort to move from “early flight zone” pilots toward a designated development area for emerging industries.

DJI and JOUAV anchor the center

Among the companies at the new center, DJI’s Shaoxing all-category drone experience center is its first integrated store in the Yangtze River Delta combining consumer and industrial applications.

The store displays DJI’s Neo, Mini and Mavic drone lines alongside imaging products such as Osmo Pocket and Osmo Action. It also provides consultation and educational services covering both professional and consumer uses.

Vertaxi, a Chinese maker of industrial drones, has established its first nationwide industrial drone display and delivery center at the hub. The facility combines aircraft demonstrations, solution promotion, sales and after-sales services for industrial customers.

Other tenants cover more specialized applications. Research and development companies include TrinaHydrogen (元氢), which focuses on firefighting drones, and MagicSky (模幻天空), which develops technologies for rapid accident assessment.

Training and competition companies also operate at the center, offering certification, educational programs and performance-related services.

That gives the facility a role beyond showcasing aircraft. By bringing manufacturers, developers, training providers and service companies together, Yuecheng is trying to build a local chain that runs from technology development and manufacturing to talent development and commercial deployment.
